SEN Support in School
SEN Support is the help a school gives to a child with additional needs, without an EHCP. It should be tailored, reviewed and recorded.
What SEN Support can include
- Adjustments in class (seating, instructions, visual support).
- Small-group or 1:1 interventions.
- Assistive technology or alternative recording methods.
- Support with organisation, transitions and emotional regulation.
Your child’s plan
Many schools use an Individual Support Plan or Pupil Passport. You should be involved in agreeing targets and reviewing progress.
Talking to school
Ask to meet the SENCO. Bring examples of what you see at home and any reports you have. You are entitled to be heard and involved.
