The Graduated Response
The graduated response is a cycle schools should use to support pupils with SEND: Assess, Plan, Do, Review.
Assess
Gather information about strengths, needs, and what is happening in class and at home.
Plan
Agree on strategies, adjustments and interventions. Set clear, realistic outcomes.
Do
Put the support in place. Staff should know what has been agreed.
Review
After an agreed period, look at what has worked and what has not. Adjust the plan and repeat the cycle.
If, after cycles of support, your child still cannot access learning, it may be time to consider an EHCP.
