EHCP Assessment Process

If an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) is agreed, the local authority gathers information about your child’s needs and current support.

Information sources

• Parents and carers.
• School staff, including the SENCO.
• Educational Psychologist.
• Health professionals (e.g. paediatrician, SLT, OT).
• Social care, where relevant.

Draft EHCP

You should be sent a draft plan to review. You can request changes, challenge vague wording, and ask for provision to be specific, measurable and clear.
